NEW – In-Person Workshop!
Trauma is often a root driver of disordered substance use. When substances are reduced or eliminated, PTSD symptoms may intensify, making abstinence harder to maintain. Additionally, some early-recovery interventions that effectively support sobriety can unintentionally reinforce nervous system dysregulation linked to trauma, improving short-term functioning while complicating long-term healing. This training explores how trauma-informed, autonomic nervous system–attuned clinical interventions can simultaneously support sustained abstinence and reduce the ongoing effects of trauma.
Maria Kratsios, LCSW, MA is the founder of Nest Behavioral Health and a trauma therapist specializing in the treatment of severe, multifaceted trauma characterized by psychological and relational complexity, often embedded within intricate family systems. Drawing from extensive training in DBT, EMDR, CPT for PTSD, Psychodrama, and The Polyvagal Theory, she utilizes an integrative therapeutic model to address chronic nervous system dysregulation. Maria is an international speaker, workshop facilitator, and contributing author on Posttraumatic Growth for an upcoming Springer textbook on Sociometry.
This presentation is appropriate for: clinical professionals, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and social workers.
