1 CE available: Understanding and Addressing Rising Anxiety in Today’s Youth
Join us for an engaging continuing education presentation exploring Jonathan Haidt’s groundbreaking book, The Anxious Generation and facilitated by Brigid Carney, LPC. This session will dive into the social and developmental shifts contributing to heightened anxiety in children and teens, including the impact of smartphones, social media, and cultural changes on mental health.
Brigid Carney, LPC is a psychotherapist in CT who specializes in working with adolescents, first responders and veterans. Her passion for trauma-informed care is deeply personal, rooted in her family’s legacy of service. Her husband’s career with the New Haven Fire Department, along with the military service of her father and grandfather, profoundly shaped her academic focus and advocacy. In addition to her clinical and academic pursuits, she is an adjunct professor at both the University of Bridgeport and the University of New Haven, where she mentors the next generation of mental health professionals and healthcare leaders. She has her own private practice, Janus Health Care, Inc., where she serves first responders, veterans, and their families via equine-aided activities.
Social Workers, Therapists and stakeholders in the community will gain practical insights and evidence-based strategies to apply in clinical and community settings, empowering them to better support youth and families navigating today’s challenges.
