Trauma in the Workplace

FREE! In-Person Workshop

This training will explore how trauma impacts an employee’s ability to literally and figuratively show up for work. Discussion will address how to identify and support employees navigating trauma, as well as how to promote a trauma-informed work environment.

Amanda Dixon, LMHC, RPT runs Amanda Dixon Mental Health Counseling Services in the Hudson Valley where she and her team focus on those who have trauma or Adverse Childhood Experiences. She is an experienced trainer, an advocate, a clinical supervisor and registered play therapist, among other skills, and believes trauma is often at the root of many mental health challenges. Amanda is passionate about providing supervision and education to emerging clinicians in the field and feels this is an integral part of her occupational mission.

This presentation is appropriate for: clinical professionals, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and social workers.

OBJECTIVES: After this in-person workshop, you will be able to:

1. Identify three behaviors/symptoms that could represent a trauma response in the workplace.

2. Identify five ways to help support an employee you suspect is dealing with trauma.

3. Discuss ways to assist in strengthening a relationship with an employees who might be dealing with trauma.

4. Identify ways in which a work environment is trauma informed.

5. Address different types of adverse childhood experiences that may impact an employee.
