The webinar will present several different understandings of trauma and PTSD and their impacts on a person. A primary sub-focus will be on betrayal trauma - the trauma experienced when an intimate partner betrays trust. It will then discuss some of the more traditional ways of treating trauma and betrayal trauma and finally, it will examine the recent study about the impacts of ibogaine treatment for the purposes of treating trauma, PTSD symptoms and betrayal trauma.
Gary Katz, LCSW, CSAT, CPTT is a psychotherapist and the founder and Owner of the Center for Intimacy Recovery. Prior to opening the Center for Intimacy Recovery, he worked in education for over 20 years. He has a Bachelors of Education and a Masters of Social Work. He is trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic and Sensorimotor Psychotherapies and is certified both as a Sex Addiction Therapist and a Partner Trauma Therapist.
OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1) Identify definitions of trauma.
2) Identify signs of PTSD.
3) Understand betrayal trauma and how it has been traditionally treated.
4) Understand potential value of the Stanford study on using Ibogaine to treat trauma, PTSD and betrayal trauma.
5) Understand how creating a sense of meaning in client's lives is an integral part of treating trauma, PTSD and betrayal trauma.
